Alexandra Hemphill to Perform in "To Kill a Mockingbird" at Frostburg State University

2016 Feb 18

The Department of Theatre and Dance at Frostburg State University will present a theatrical performance of Harper Lee's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel "To Kill a Mockingbird," on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 26 and 27, and Thursday through Saturday, March 3 to 5, at 7:30 p.m. with a matinee on Feb. 27 at 2 p.m. All performances will take place in the Performing Arts Center Drama Theatre.

Scout is a young girl in the summer of 1935 when her sleepy Alabama town erupts in a storm of intolerance, anger and fear. Tom Robinson, a poor black man, has been accused of attacking a white woman, and it is up to Scout's father, Atticus Finch, to defend him against the charges.

Adapted for the stage by Christopher Sergel and directed by Jennifer Goff, "To Kill a Mockingbird" is a courtroom drama, coming-of-age story, and reminder that the hard and important work of human decency is never over.

"To Kill a Mockingbird" features a large and talented cast and crew, including Alexandra Hemphill of Boonsboro, Md., who plays Miss Stephanie.

Tickets are $6 for students and $12 for the general public. Group discounts are available when booked in advance.
