Blessing Stepe Accepted Into FSU's Upward Bound Regional Math/Science Center

2011 Jun 28

Blessing Stepe, an 11th-grade student at Western High School in Baltimore, Md., has recently been accepted into the Frostburg State University Upward Bound Regional Math/Science Center. Stepe will stay on the FSU campus for six weeks this summer, developing the skills necessary for entering and succeeding in post-secondary education, primarily in the fields of math and science. Stepe will live and work with a diverse group of students from across Maryland to complete a scientific investigation. Students at RMSC have a rigorous academic schedule during the week, including math, writing, foreign language, literature and SAT preparation, in addition to the science project. They also have the opportunity to attend educational workshops and meet professional scientists and mathematicians. Field trips are scheduled on the weekends to reward the students with enriching cultural experiences. Throughout the academic year, the RMSC staff provides participants with support and assistance as they prepare for college. Students remain in the program until they graduate from high school, returning each summer to FSU. The RMSC program is free to all participants.
