FSU Sophomores to Present Joint Flute Recital

Frostburg State University music students Cristian Dohler and Susan Zoller will perform a joint flute recital on Sunday, March 6, at 7 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU's Performing Arts Center. The duo will be accompanied by Dr. Jay DeWire on piano. The performance is free and open to the public.

The program features a number of classical and modern pieces that draw inspiration from poetry, lakes, insect life, Native American music and ancient Indian magic. Works to be performed include "Sonatine fur zwei Floten" by Paul Hindemith, "Poem" by Charles T. Griffes, "Sonata (Three Lakes)" by Daniel Dorff, "Bugs" by Geoffrey Westbrook, "Duo for Flute and Piano" by Aaron Copland, "Winter Spirits" by Katherine Hoover and "?maya'" by Ian Clarke.

Zoller is a flute and piano performance major at FSU. She plays flute with the FSU Wind Ensemble, the FSU Flute Choir, the Potomac Concert Band in Cumberland and the Arion Band in Frostburg.

Dohler is a flute performance and music management major at FSU. He is the secretary, music director and social chair for the Xi Omega chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity and performs with FSU's Wind Ensemble and Flute Choir on flute and piccolo.
