FSU Student David Lee to Present Senior Piano Recital

2014 Sep 17

Frostburg State University student David Lee will present his senior piano recital on Sunday, Oct. 5, at 7 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU's Performing Arts Center. The recital is free and open to the public.

Lee will open with "Prelude and Fugue in D Minor" by Johann Sebastian Bach, from one of Bach's famous compositions "The Well-Tempered Clavier." The recital will also feature two pieces from Frederick Francois Chopin, including "Nocturne in C-sharp Minor, Op. 21, No. 1," a powerful, morbid masterpiece with a persistent melody. Lee's recital will also feature pieces from Franz Joseph Haydn, Claude Debussy and Sergei Rachmaninov.

The recital will close with the Lee's own composition, "Festive Marching Children in a Meadow."

Lee studies piano with Dr. James DeWire at FSU and studied with Dr. Joan DeVee Dixon for his freshman year. He is a member of the Maryland Music Educators Association and the National Association for Music Education and has been listed on the Dean's List. A 2011 graduate of Northeast High School in Pasadena, Md., Lee expects to graduate from FSU in May 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education. He is the son of Ki Lee of Silver Spring, Md. Lee plans to teach music in public schools.
