FSU Student Garrett Yoder's Junior Recital to Mix Tradition and Video Games

2016 Feb 19

Frostburg State University student Garrett Yoder will present his junior guitar recital, accompanied by guest guitarists Greg Hays and Charlie Engleka, on Sunday, Feb. 28, at 7 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU's Performing Arts Center. The performance is free and open to the public.

The recital will include a unique blend of traditional pieces and selections from popular video game soundtracks. Yoder will begin the recital with "La Rose" and "La Tarantella" by Mauro Giulian, "Usher Waltz" by Nikita Koshkin, "Julia Florida" by Agustin Barrios and "Yamour" by Andrew York. Yoder will be joined by Hays for "Dragonborn," the main theme from "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim," and Engleka will join in for a suite of themes from the "Legend of Zelda" series.

Yoder graduated from Northern Garrett High School in Accident, Md., in 2012 and is working toward a bachelor's degree in music in guitar performance with a minor in jazz.
