FSU Student Sean Scriber to Present Junior Tenor Recital

Frostburg State University student Sean Scriber will present his junior tenor recital, accompanied by pianist Dr. Jay DeWire, Saturday, Oct. 24, at 7:30 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU's Performing Arts Center. The recital is free and open to the public.

Scriber will open the recital with selections by George Frideric Handel, such as "Frondi tenere ombra mia f?," "Non lo diro col labbro" and "Lascia ch'io pianga." The recital will also feature "Ihr Bildnis" by Clara Schumman, "Die Nebenssonen" by Franz Schubert and "Du bist wie eine Blume" by Robert Schumann. Additionally, Scriber will perform "Lydia" and "Adieu" by French composer Gabriel Faur?. The recital will continue with "Deep River," a spiritual arranged by Patrick M. Liebergen, "Hope" by Robert Owens and "A Prayer to Saint Catherine" by Virgil Thomson. Scriber will end the recital with Stephen Flaherty's "Make Them Hear You," a piece from the musical "Ragtime."

Scriber studies voice with Dr. Steven Soebbing, Dr. Robert Robinson and Dr. James Reddan. He is a member of the a cappella group Xenoharmonics, as well as a resident assistant for the Residence Life Office. He has also been on the Dean's List for six consecutive semesters. Scriber, a 2012 graduate of Great Mills High School, plans to graduate from FSU in May 2016 with a degree in music management. He hopes to record and produce great artists once he has his degree. Scriber is the son of Stephon and Sonji Scriber of Hollywood, Md.
