FSU's Katie Hendrix to Present Senior Recital

Frostburg State University student Katie Hendrix will present her senior soprano recital on Sunday, April 24, at 3 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU's Performing Arts Center. She will be accompanied by Dr. Jay DeWire on the piano. The recital is free and open to the public.

Hendrix will perform "Lagrime Mie" from "Diporti di Euterpe, Op. 7" and "Miei Pensieri" from "Ariette a voce sola, Op. 6" by Barbara Strozzi; "Ei! Wie Schmeckt der Kaffee Suse" and "Heute Noch, Lieber Vater" from "Schweigt stille, plaudert nicht, BWV 211" ("Coffee Cantata") by Johann Sebastian Bach; "Let the Bright Seraphim" by George Frederic Handel; "Wiosna" and "L'oiselet" by Frederic Chopin; "The Shepherd on the Rock" by Franz Schubert; and "Panis Angelicus" by Cesar Franck. She will be joined throughout the evening by Dr. Mark Gallagher on the clarinet, Dr. Keith Hanlon and Amara Guitry on the traverse, Lyle Nordstrom on the theorbo, Alex Kooker on the trumpet and Carolyn Hendrix on the cello.

Hendrix studies under Dr. Bobb Robinson at FSU. She has been named to the Dean's List and is a member of the professional music fraternity, Sigma Alpha Iota, and a soprano in the Scholars of St. Cecilia, the Mountainside Baroque chamber choir of Cumberland. She graduated from Perryville High School in 2012 and expects to graduate from FSU in December 2016 with a bachelor's degree in music education. After graduation, Hendrix plans to begin working toward a career as a choral conductor for higher education or a music administrator. She is the daughter of Carolyn and Bill Hendrix of Port Deposit, Md.
