FSU to Present Bassoon Studio Recital

Frostburg State University will present the Bassoon Studio Recital on Monday, Dec. 7, at 7:30 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of the Performing Arts Center. This recital is free and open to the public.

The recital will be performed by the FSU Bassoon Quartet, which is comprised of Dr. Brent Weber, FSU students Joseph Spittler and Marcus Steele and community member Joe McDaniel.

The program will begin with a series of pieces arranged by A. Burford: "La Petite Coquette" by John Stepan Zemecnik; "Etude Tableu, Op. 33, No. 1" by Sergei Rachmaninoff; and "By Heck (Eccentric Fox-Trot)" by S.R. Henry. "Concerto in B-flat Major, Op. 10, No. 2, RV 501" by Antonio Vivaldi will then be performed, which will feature Spittler on bassoon and Dr. Jay DeWire on piano. The quartet will play "Jingle Bells Gallop" by James Lord Pierpont, arranged by Burford, "Pigs" by Alan Ridout and "Mazurka, Op. 7, No. 1" by Frederic Chopin, also arranged by Burford. The quartet will finish with "Overworld Theme" by Koji Kondo, arranged by Weber.
