Janet Adesina Honored With Social Change Award at Frostburg State University

Frostburg State University senior Janet Adesina of New Carrollton was honored with the Social Change Award at the 2014-2015 FSU Leadership Awards Reception.

The Social Change Award seeks to recognize students for strides in enacting positive change in local, state, national and global communities.

Adesina served as president of Spectrum - a LGBTQA-friendly student organization - and contributed to more established programs like Ally 101 and Welcome to the Gayborhood. She made an effort to bridge the gap between the police and the community at the Police Community Dialog by relaying the information and insight that she gathered to her fellow group members. She is a McNair Scholar and is a member of the Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society and Alpha Sigma Alpha National Sorority. Adesina's determination brought a more just, fair and equal campus community to FSU.
