William Wygal of Stevensville Presented at 2016 Frostburg Undergraduate Research Symposium

In May, William Wygal of Stevensville presented the following works at Frostburg State University's 2016 College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Undergraduate Research Symposium:

"Lyme Disease in Western Maryland: Analysis of Ticks (Ixodes scapularis) and Tissue Samples from White-footed Mice (Peromyscus leucopus) by PCR and Immunofluorescence Microscopy," which was presented with Drew Brown, Mallary Granger, Nicole Lloyd, Fred Nyachieo and Amy Weakland, under the tutelage of Dr. Rebekah Taylor and Dr. Karen Keller; "Lyme Disease in Western Maryland: Collection of Ticks (Ixodes scapularis) and Blood Samples from White-footed Mice (Peromyscus leucopus)," which was presented with Drew Brown, Mallary Granger, Nicole Lloyd, Kassondra Greis and Amy Weakland, under Dr. Rebekah Taylor and Dr. Karen Keller; "Using Differential Refractive Indexes and Light Scattering to Determine Molecular Weight," which was presented with Lauren Rosch, Christopher Shore and Colby Swisher, under Dr. Peggy Biser; and "The Effect of Acetaminophen on the Growth of Murine Splenocytes, Lymphocytes, and Hepatocytes," which was presented singlehandedly under Dr. Rebekah Taylor.

The fifth annual Undergraduate Research Symposium showcased outstanding student research and artistry from 16 academic departments for Frostburg faculty, staff and alumni.
