Frostburg State University student, Rachael Michalski, recieved the William Mandicott Pillar of the Community Award at the 2023 Leadership and Engagement Awards celebration on May 4. This award strives to recognize a key leader on campus that embraces the core fundamental principles of leadership, is actively engaged in student life, has demonstrated commitment to serving others, has a strong dedication to academic excellence, and exudes pride in FSU through thoughts, words and actions. This student is among the best and brightest at Frostburg State University.

Frostburg State University student, Zachary Arnold, recieved the Father Ed Hendricks Award at the 2023 Leadership and Engagement Awards celebration on May 4. This award recognizes a student leader who has demonstrated a genuine concern for the well-being of others. Candidates demonstrate compassion and commitment to the campus community, and through their integrity and their many contributions have made a significant impact on FSU. This award honors the legacy of Father Ed Hendricks, former Catholic Chaplain, and his distinguished service to Frostburg State University.

Frostburg State University student, Kyujin Milstead, recieved the Student Employee of the Year Award at the 2023 Leadership and Engagement Awards celebration on May 4. This award recognizes an FSU student employee who demonstrates outstanding performance as an employee of the university. This award is granted to passionate, motivated students whose contributions are highly valued by their department of employment.

Frostburg State University student, Ciera Davisson, recieved the 2023 Derek Thomson Sheely Leadership Award and Scholarship at the 2023 Leadership and Engagement Awards celebration on May 4. This award is persented to a junior at FSU with a specific GPA and who best exemplifies the qualities of leadership that Derek demonstrated. It includes a full-tuition scholarship for the recipient's senior year at FSU and requires them to complete 40 hours of community service to increase awareness surrounding concussions and brain injuries in sports.

Frostburg State University graduating senior, Ariyana Ward, recieved the Student Government Association Senior Service Award at the 2023 Leadership and Engagement Awards celebration on May 4. This award recognizes one exceptional student leader that has dedicated themselves to serving the college and local community throughout their college career.

Frostburg State University student, Kristina Thompson, recieved the Unsung Hero Award at the 2023 Leadership and Engagement Awards celebration on May 4. This award recognizes an outstanding student who may or may not hold a position of leadership but has shown significant commitment to their organization through involvement or their department through employment and has proven themselves to be an outstanding participant in all programs, meetings and activities.

Frostburg State University student, Jamie Roberts, recieved the Emerging Leader Award at the 2023 Leadership and Engagement Awards celebration on May 4. This award recognizes an outstanding first or second-year student who has demonstated leadership skills, involvement at FSU and strong academic performance.

The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi is proud to announce the recipients of a 2022 Love of Learning Award. The awards help fund post-baccalaureate studies and career development for active Society members.

Gianni Jones, a senior social work major at Frostburg State University, has been featured in the President's Circle of the Dr. Edna B. McKenzie Branch of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH) as part of Women's History Month.

Frostburg State University will celebrate student achievements in two ceremonies on Saturday, Dec. 18. Fall 2021 graduates will be honored at the 159th Commencement ceremony at 9:30 a.m. At 2 p.m. there will be a ceremony for graduates from the Spring 2020, Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 commencement ceremonies that were postponed due to the pandemic.

As a young girl, Frostburg State University student Kaoutar Sahmoudi always had engineering on her "radar." But it was a career path that was uncommon for women and, particularly, women of color. Now, Sahmoudi's commitment to pursue her dream is receiving international recognition.

Frostburg State University student Jessica Thayer of Oakland, Md., has been named a Newman Civic Fellow, which recognizes and supports community-committed students. Thayer is a senior double majoring in law and society and political science and minoring in philosophy and is the Student Government Association (SGA) vice president.

Frostburg State University senior Emma Duncan of Frostburg, Md., was honored with the SGA Outstanding Senior Service Award at the 2019-2020 FSU Leadership and Engagement Awards virtual celebration.

Frostburg State University sophomore Reginald Morton of Baltimore, Md., was honored with the Emerging Leader Award at the 2019-2020 FSU Leadership and Engagement Awards virtual celebration.

Frostburg State University student Derek Staines of Abingdon, Md., was honored with the Derek Thomson Sheely Leadership Award at the 2019-2020 FSU Leadership and Engagement Awards virtual celebration.

Frostburg State University student Chloe Hadley of Hagerstown, Md., was honored with the Outstanding Educational Programming Award at the 2019-2020 FSU Leadership and Engagement Awards virtual celebration.

Frostburg State University will celebrate student achievements of its fall 2019 graduating class with the 155th Commencement ceremony on Wednesday, Dec. 18. The ceremony for the colleges of Business, Education, and Liberal Arts and Sciences will take place in the Harold J. Cordts Physical Education Center's Main Arena at 2 p.m.

Frostburg State University student Brenden Carruth of Waldorf, Md., was honored with the Student Employee of the Year Award at the 2019-2020 FSU Leadership and Engagement Awards virtual celebration.

Calvin Richards of Hagerstown, a student in Frostburg State University's physician assistant (PA) program, was selected from thousands of PA students across the country as one of 18 to participate in the American Academy of Physician Assistant (AAPA) House of Delegates National Conference in May 2020. The House of Delegates establishes policies and guides the direction of the AAPA Academy each year.

Elizabeth Green of McHenry, Md., an August 2019 graduate from the Frostburg State University Master of Science program in applied ecology and conservation biology, was awarded the Graduate Student Poster Presentation Award at the Natural Areas Association's Natural Areas Conference (NAC) in Pittsburgh.

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan honored a volunteer from a Frostburg State University-affiliated AmeriCorps program, FSU senior Mekhi Jones, during the 36th Annual Governor's Service Awards Ceremony, which was hosted by the Governor's Office on Service and Volunteerism in October.
