Frostburg State University student, Ciera Davisson, recieved the 2023 Derek Thomson Sheely Leadership Award and Scholarship at the 2023 Leadership and Engagement Awards celebration on May 4. This award is persented to a junior at FSU with a specific GPA and who best exemplifies the qualities of leadership that Derek demonstrated. It includes a full-tuition scholarship for the recipient's senior year at FSU and requires them to complete 40 hours of community service to increase awareness surrounding concussions and brain injuries in sports.

This award recognizes one exceptional student leader that has dedicated themselves to serving the college and local community throughout their college career.

Frostburg State University student, Kristina Thompson, recieved the Unsung Hero Award at the 2023 Leadership and Engagement Awards celebration on May 4. This award recognizes an outstanding student who may or may not hold a position of leadership but has shown significant commitment to their organization through involvement or their department through employment and has proven themselves to be an outstanding participant in all programs, meetings and activities.

Frostburg State University student, Jamie Roberts, recieved the Emerging Leader Award at the 2023 Leadership and Engagement Awards celebration on May 4. This award recognizes an outstanding first or second-year student who has demonstated leadership skills, involvement at FSU and strong academic performance.

Frostburg State University student, Stella Beerninik, recieved the Outstanding Educational Programming Award at the 2023 Leadership and Engagement Awards celebration on May 4 for her efforts with the Women's Health Fair. This award recognizes a student leader or student organization that has implemented an impactful educational program on campus. This program raised awareness on an issue, led to an understanding of a topic and supported students in their educational journey through college.

FSU graduating senior, Amber Greenbaum, received the Social Change Award at the 2023 Leadership and Engagement Awards reception on May 4. This award seeks to recognize a student or organization for strides in enacting positive change in our local, state, national and global communities.

Frostburg State University and the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge recently announced that Rachael Michalski has been recognized as part of the 2023 ALL IN Student Voting Honor Roll. The ALL IN Student Voting Honor Roll awards college students doing outstanding work to advance nonpartisan democratic engagement at participating campuses.

Frostburg State University student, Evelyn Shanholtz, recieved the Outstanding Social Programming Award at the 2023 Leadership and Engagement Awards celebration on May 4 for her efforts working with a Trunk or Treat event. This award recognizes a student leader or student organization for their time and talents to facilitate an engaging and thoughtful event for FSU. It also recognizes programming that is inherently social in nature, that brings individuals together, builds campus community and promotes student life on campus.

A 2022 graduate of Frostburg State University, Jacob Wilson earned his bachelor of science degree in health science. Now in his first year of medical school at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine (WVSOM), Wilson can't imagine himself anywhere else.

Frostburg State University student, Jamie Roberts, has been selected to join student fellows across the University System of Maryland (USM) institutions in this year's cohort of the Langenberg Legacy Fellows Program. The Langenberg Legacy launched in 2022 to stimulate student leaders' pursuit of micro-level civic engagement projects that will lead to solutions to broader issues threatening justice, human rights and the environment.

Rachael Michalski, of Chester, Md., was recently elected as the president of Frostburg State University's Student Government Association (SGA) for the 2023-24 academic school year. Her responsibility as the leader of the SGA Executive Branch will be to oversee the daily operations and act as a liaison between University administration and the student body.
